Why hello there!
I'm so glad you're here. Truly. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you for being here. Consider me flattered to be sharing this time & space with you.
A little about me...
My name is Britt, and I was born and raised in Red Deer AB, and now raise my own three kids here as well. I am beyond excited to have joined this stellar small business community, and am so grateful to have been welcomed with wide open arms.
I am what I like to call, a "serial hobbyist" jumping from hobby to hobby, mastering it, before giving it up completely. Card making, cake decorating, photography, sign making. You name it, I've dabbled in it. So, welcome to my current adventure. If history reigns true, it may be here for a good time and not a long time, but for now I am loving every second of pouring my heart and soul into this little business of mine.
So, Why Preloved?
Well, lemme tell ya. While I was pregnant with my first child, I was a consumer advertisers easiest target. If it was pink and adorable, it was in my cart and on it's way to my home. Outfits, headbands, shoes galore. You name it, I bought it. Her closet was bursting at the seams before we could even hold her in our arms.
Fast forward to newborn life & beyond.. Did she don all of these adorable, tulle skirted, fancy, Instagram worthy garments that I had spent the better half of nine months collecting?
Pff. Hardly.
Did she instead live mainly in bodysuits or sleepers for the first 6 months of her life?
She sure did.
This not only forced me into recognizing my disgraceful consumerism, but it also made me realize just how quickly she was growing out of everything! (Still true) I'd say 90% or more of her curated wardrobe went untouched.
Fast forward to now, almost 8 years and 2 more children later, I am constantly reminded of just how quickly children grow (Don't get me started. Time is the greatest thief) Their closets remain full of outgrown clothing that most, if not all, are still in prime condition.
*drumroll please*
And thus, came forth the fruition of Lyla & Wren Co. This is extremely niche, but to quote one of my favourite childhood movie's,
"See a Need, Fill a Need"
- Big Weld
A one stop shop to solve the harmful consumerism of buying new. A platform, that supports local parents by buying their children's gently used clothing as stock. A collaborative collection, of both earth friendly and budget friendly finds.
But anyways, that's enough about me, I’ll wrap it up here. I'm sure you have things to do, children to tend, laundry to ignore, and I am beginning to feel eerily similar to the annoying Pinterest novels you have to skip through just to find the darn muffin recipe. So, in closing, if you've made it this far, thank you again for being here. I am so very grateful for your time. Happy shopping, and thank you for choosing preloved.
